De blogpost How to use ChatGPT in the history classroom beschrijft hoe een geschiedenisdocent ChatGPT gebruikt binnen onderwijs over (de afschaffing van) de slavernij en de Amerikaanse Burgeroorlog. Aan het einde presenteer weer diverse bronnen met meer informatie over generatieve AI.
Docent Jonathan Jones was in eerste instantie geneigd om generatieve AI te verbannen in verband met valkuilen op het gebied van ‘academische integriteit’. ChatGPT en aanverwante technologieën kunnen echter ook worden gebruikt om belangrijke vaardigheden voor een historicus (en anderen) te ontwikkelen: schrijven, argumenteren op basis van bewijs, informatie analyseren en feiten controleren. Daarom heeft Jones rond het onderwerp “Frederick Douglass’s America” -één van de grondleggers van de Amerikaanse burgerrechtenbeweging- onderwijs met behulp van ChatGPT verzorgd.
